Council Members are drawn from across the economy in a variety of industries: Healthcare and Biomedical; Technology, Media, and Telecommunications; Energy and Industrials, Consumer Goods and Services; Real Estate; Financial and Business Services; Accounting and Financial Analysis, and Legal Economic and Regulatory Affairs. Following is a general overview of potential intern responsibilities: • Building, organizing, and deepening our relationship with the GLG Councils, an association of more than 150,000 of the top industry leaders in the world. • Developing and executing our customized research products and services for our Council Members and clients -- including surveys, GLG NewsSM, and the many events that we organize and sponsor in New York, San Francisco, Boston and around the country. • Developing systems and utilizing technology to facilitate the smooth interaction between our team, our clients, and our Council Members. More specifics on the Research Intern position and our expectations: • Fall Internship Program: We are currently accepting applicants at the Junior and Senior levels for an internship program that will commence on September 10 and end December 7, 2007. During the program, interns will work 12-18 hours per week, to be completed between the hours of 8:30am and 6pm on weekdays. • Council and Platform Management Interns will likely spend the majority of their time building and managing the GLG Councils. You must be able to communicate the mission and policies of GLG in a concise, effective manner. You will also work on customized projects and requests from the Council and Platform Management teams, which may include conducting web-based research on important news stories for a practice area, compiling statistical data on Council composition and recruiting efforts, identifying executives in transition, working with GLG Member programs, assisting with data management efforts, responding to Council Member inquiries, and reviving relationships with Council Members whose activity with GLG has lapsed.
• Events Management interns will assist in the planning and execution of GLG’s events products across all practice areas. Activities may include researching venues, handling venue contracts, confirming logistical details, proofreading documents, securing travel arrangements, and providing itineraries. You must be extremely organized, very detail-oriented, and highly professional in all written and oral communications. • Accounts Payable interns will assist with payments processing. Activities may include scanning invoices into the electronic payment system, contacting vendors on various issues and maintaining the filing system. Additional assistance would be provided to the Accounts Receivable team and on initiatives such as our new pricing model. You must be extremely organized, very detail-oriented, and highly professional in all written and oral communications. • All interns at Gerson Lehrman Group should have extensive writing experience. Interns will be expected to quickly and effectively communicate a range of simple and complex material. Interns should have written for a school publication, published technical or scientific material, worked on a news desk or had similar experience in their academic curriculum. • We expect interns to pursue and handle increasing responsibility. They should be able to demonstrate a history of extracurricular or academic interests that will help us identify these and all of the aforementioned qualities. Compensation This is a paid internship. Salary: $10.00/hr. Interns are not paid for the NYSE holidays that we are closed. Interns do not get paid for days not worked, and cannot make up that time on the weekends or holidays. Other No-Trading Policy Gerson Lehrman Group does not allow employees to trade stocks or any other security that may present a conflict of interest or appearance of conflict of interest.
