THE COMPANY
Four Kitchen Studios is a leading Drupal development agency specializing in publishing, design, back-office workflow, performance, and scalability. We have clients in North America and Europe. While our largest clients are companies, we also serve a number of charities and non-profits. Our projects are mostly large-scale, and they require extensive client collaboration.

But we're small enough that our employees go by names, not numbers. We don't have cubicles or a fridge clean-out policy. Every person at this company -- including the owners -- is primarily a contributor, not a manager. Our office is located near US-183 and Mopac, which makes communing from many Austin-area places quick.

When we create new software, we license it under the GPL and publish it back to the community. Our clients pay us to develop and configure software for them, not to exclusively own it. GPL licensing also allows you to put any work done here into your portfolio.

THE POSITION
You would work with us on one of our many Drupal-related projects. You would develop custom modules, themes, and perform light Drupal administration tasks. On issues related to your work, you would communicate directly with clients to resolve problems and make changes. Although you would be a contract employee, your employment would be ongoing.

QUALIFICATIONS
We strongly suggest a four-year degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field, but we know there are many people who have completed a non-technical degree (or no degree at all) who would be very valuable to us. However, if your primary qualification is Microsoft Office proficiency, this is the wrong job for you.

USEFUL SKILLS
If you already know Drupal module and database development, you're probably an email away from an interview. But we know that it's hard to find Drupal developers who aren't already working 60-hour weeks, so we're very willing to train someone with a background in SQL, PHP, Java, or any other set of skills that shows awareness of software development methodology. Familiarity with open-source culture, ethics, and methodology will help you jump into working with us a bit faster.
